Dr. John Dennis Bain was born in 1956 in Pontiac, Michigan. His parents, John W. and Elizabeth Bain were born and raised in Limestone County, Alabama but moved up North shortly after they married. They returned home in 1960, bringing their two sons back below the Mason-Dixon line.
For most of his life, John was known as Dennis . . . until he relented to all of those over the years who called him by his first name, from school rolls, official functions, legal documentation and formal engagements. Now he follows the name-change tradition of most of the folks in his family (his Dad grew up as Walt, and became John, his Mom was Libby, and became Liz, his brother Danny is now Handy Man Dan). |
John attended the Flint Elementary School in Flint City, Alabama until sixth grade and then began his journey through Junior High School and High School in Hartselle, Alabama (Hartselle Junior High School and Morgan County High School). He was graduated in 1974.
He married Terri Evans in 1976 -- They have two grown children, Charise Buel and Jonathan Bain. Charise is married to Brian Buel and they have blessed John and Terri with three wonderful Granddaughters -- Addison Elizabeth Buel, Samantha Avery Buel, and Harper Victoria Buel.
For 30 years John served as a full time Senior Pastor in Southern Baptist Churches. In 2006 he left full time ministry to follow a variety of work paths that also included the Bi-vocational Pastorate.
John is now serving as the Bivocational Pastor of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Decatur, Alabama . . . he is also a computer IT Specialist for NASA, musician, magician, author, and publisher.
